In the afternoon of 13th. November 2011, after the bands involvement in the large parade at the Bristol Cenotaph, an unofficial contingent of nine pipers repaired to the town of Melksham for their Remembrance Day Parade. This was at the invitation of Piper Bill Rivett who resides in Melksham. At this parade we were in pole position and lead the way with the “Wings” set once again on the outward leg. Again the weather was kind but we did miss our drum corps. Perhaps they are important after all! It was certainly a greater challenge without them.

After the ceremony, and as dusk was falling, we again lead the return parade with the “Green Hills’ set.

The parade over we were very hospitably entertained to a pint and cakes in the Assembly Hall.

This was a warming example of small town respect for the fallen and we enjoyed being part of it.

Pipe Major for the day: Colin Chapman

Pipers: William Rivett, Keith Turner, Carol Varney, Ian Wyllie, Alan Mckellar, Jack Gibson, Craig Jamieson, Clive Reid

Also on parade Sarah, drum corp apprentice.
