Competitions at the Isle of Wight Highland Gathering 2018

Members of The City of Bristol Pipe Band made an early start on 22 July 2018 to attend the Isle of Wight Highland Gathering.
A regular date in our piping calendar, the Gathering includes Band and Solo competitions. This year the Band arrived in good time and entered a number of categories, playing the new set of four 2/4 marches which Pipe Major Sandy Kemlo is encouraging us all to master. Ryan Smart entered the solo piping competitions.

The Band came away with:
First Prize in the Mini-Band competition, the Best Band Trophy and a significant cash prize;
First Prize in the Quartet competition;
Second place for lead drummer Jim McMillan and Third place for drummer Toby Stacey in the solo drumming competition;
Firsts for Ryan Smart in every the solo piping category.
